COVID-19 Update from Bend Veterinary Clinic

Here at Bend Veterinary Clinic you and your pets’ health is our highest concern. With the recent outbreak of COVID -19, we will continue to provide excellent care and service to you and your pets. We are currently open for your pets healthcare needs but we are taking precautions to limit exposure and spread of Corona Virus.

We are maintaining high sanitation standards here at the clinic to keep you and your pets healthy. But we also want to limit needless exposure to limit the spread of the virus. If you are concerned about waiting in the lobby and potentially exposing yourself to others, we are offering drop off appointments. We can come out to your vehicle, bring your pet into the clinic and we can call you when they are ready.

We feel vaccination and preventive care is essential for our patients to prevent outbreak of animal disease, like the current COVID-19 pandemic. We will continue to provide health and wellness appointments for the safety of your family pets. If you prefer to reschedule please contact us directly; through our app, Pets of Bend, email or phone call.

Regarding COVID-19 and pets, the AVMA has the following to say on this matter:

  • Infectious disease experts and multiple international and domestic human and animal health organizations agree there is no evidence at this point to indicate that pets become ill with COVID-19 or that they spread it to other animals, including people.
  • If you are not ill with COVID-19, you can interact with your pet as you normally would, including walking, feeding, and playing. You should continue to practice good hygiene during those interactions (e.g., wash hands before and after interacting with your pet; ensure your pet is kept well-groomed; regularly clean your pet’s food and water bowls, bedding material, and toys).
  • Out of an abundance of caution, it is recommended that those ill with COVID-19 limit contact with animals until more information is known about the virus. Have another member of your household take care of walking, feeding, and playing with your pet. If you have a service animal or you must care for your pet, then wear a facemask; don’t share food, kiss, or hug them; and wash your hands before and after any contact with them.

If you need a prescription refill, please call the office or request via our app. We will call you when the prescription is ready for pickup and bring it out to your car when you arrive. All pet food is available for FREE home delivery. Most medications are also available for home delivery. Please call our office if you need assistance setting up home delivery online or on the app.

If you have any non life-threatening concerns, please call our office and we will answer as many questions as we can. As a reminder, there are several steps you can take to limit the spread of this virus. The World Health Organization recommends the following for protecting yourself and others:

  • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water. Hand sanitizers with at least 60%+ alcohol can be used to sterilize hands as well.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • If you have to cough or sneeze cover your mouth and nose and maintain distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
  • If you are feeling sick please call a health provider for recommended steps to take. If you experience difficulty breathing seek prompt medical attention.

Please feel free to call or email if you have any concerns
